Climate - Early Springs and Summers stretching towards the end of October!
Whilst the south east of France is characterised by cold winters giving way to baking summers and the strong winds of the mistral, the Atlantic influence on Aquitaine brings mild winters, early springs and long summers stretching well into October. The average max. daytime temperature reaches 20 C in May and does not fall below 20 C until late in October. In fact the locals view September to November as the best months of the year with warm sunny days without the heat of high summer…...and feedback from a family letting Touyarot (at the end of March last year) we learnt that they spent part of the week sun-bathing on a beach near Biarritz with temperatures around 24 C… and a day in the mountains and amongst the snow and the skiers in the Pyrenees. Next year they plan to return and surf in the sea near Biarritz and ski in the Pyrenees in the same week!
